Am I still able to take a class that I'm not quite qualified for?

I want to take Eng. 101. It requires an ACT English score of 21, but my ACT Eng. is only 18. (Okay, I was bit by a bug that my uncle, who came from Mars, brought it to Earth a week before I took the ACT. The result: The bug gave me a Martianius Superinfluenzus. It is a common virus found in Mars' insects, birds, and sperm whales, and it's the reason why I move to this beautiful planet, Earth. The side effects of the virus is that I got a bit of a headache and plenty of boogers and phlegm and made me perform atrociously bad on some portions of the ACT.) However, I scored higher on math, which I am qualified to take calculus. I mean, wouldn't it be ridiculous to take calculus along side with preparatory composition?

I am not able to attend the orientation not due to negligence nor indolence, but do to the fact that my ship is broken. (My uncle borrowed it to make a trip to Jupiter to visit his baby momma. Since the planet's gravity was so strong, it produces radio frequency which caused the anti-gravity device to dissipated. Now he stuck there with my broken ship and his ex girlfriend.) I want to take Eng. 101 right away, and I know for the fact that I will do very well. Since it's a class for freshmen, am I allow to take it regarding my low ACT score? Will the university pull me out of the class?

By the way, I personally don't believe that standardized tests can predict how well a person will perform in college.

I also don't believe that ACT scores are necessarily a good predictor of how one might perform in college. But sometimes, trends you see on exams like the ACT do correlate with certain subject in college.

IMO, it'd be one thing if you got a 20, and they required a 21. But you got an 18 - doesn't look like a big gap, but it actually is.

Eng 101 is college level English. If your writing isn't up to snuff yet, then there's a danger that you could take this class and blow it. But if it really is the case that you were ill on ACT day (sucks about that Martian virus), and if 1) you were in honors or higher English in HS, and 2) you did well in English in HS, then you probably can handle the work in college.

You can call the college now and ask them about signing up for that class despite your ACT scores. Some colleges will let you. They'd normally need to put an override in their computer system, which will let you sign up for Eng 101, because right now, you actually probably cannot - you have a computer block that won't let you. So it's not that you will be able to sign up for the class and they'll pull you out. It's more normal that you can't even sign up for the class, period.

I think you should be taking creative writing LOL!

Often you can get into a class if you have the permission of the instructor. It is worth a try.
