I'm just out of High school and trying to get into college by myself but I'm not too sure how it works, I've been applying and applying for a couple weeks but no reply yet. I'm just wondering will they send anything back if I've been denied? And if I'm accepted how long does it typically take? I made sure they have everything they need from me too

They generally don't start giving replies till a certain point in the academic year, it seems a bit early now. And even if you did it later, they can sometimes take a very long time. It took months before I knew I was accepted at certain schools. If you are denied, they will send you something. Do not lose hope :)

The school websites should be able to give you an estimate on how long it takes and when they issue decisions.

Many colleges don't notify students of admission decisions until the spring. Some state universities will target certain desirable students and offer fast admission decisions. Some will also admit students for the Spring semester, starting in January, so they might notify you soon. But if you're contacting admissions offices to make sure they have all your documents, you should also be able to ask them when you can expect a decision.

You have to read the information on the college's websites. Are you applying to a community college or a university? Some schools have rolling admissions which means they usually make an admissions decision with a month or receiving the application and they will notify the student when the decision is made. Many other schools announce ALL admissions on a specific date. For universities in the U.S., the two dates are December 25th for early action and April 1st for regular decision -- regardless of when the application was submitted.

Everybody applies to college by themselves, you're not doing anything unusual.

What kind of college, please? More information needed.
