I am 29 yrs old and I have a 2 yr old. I am married. I have been to college before twice and I dropped both professions, medical assistance and surgical technology. I did it both times so that my husband was able to take job offers. I didn't want to feel like i was holding him back. He already has a bachelors in computer science. So yeah I put him before me. I feel like I am too old now to go back but I want to do something. I am a sahm now.

I would encourage you to go to school. Nothing is more important than what you put into your brain and education is the best way to add to your personal knowledge, especially in American culture. I went back at 55 and am not sorry but very grateful for my latest understanding of the world. Prerequisite courses I was required to take such as geology, zoology, humanities, modern art ,and others widened my world -view and my understanding . I'm no longer afraid to express my opinion knowing that my reasoning processes are valid and not steeped in hearsay, outdated information,or inaccuracies. Especially now that so many Americans gain their information about life from the Internet , I am grateful that I can evaluate scientific claims and political statements accurately and discern fact from fiction or at least a well-informed version of the facts . On a personal level, education raised my self-esteem and continues to keep me interested in new concepts, points of view, advances in science and technology. Knowing I am connected to 1000's of others who have given time and attention to invest in their knowledge- base makes me feel more secure when I listen to the news, talk with friends, watch You Tube, meet new people, make decisions about my home, the list goes on.Go to school!

No. You're NEVER to old to go back to college. I know lots of people that start college when they're in their 30's and 40's, some even older. Since you have a child and a stay-at-home-mom, I would insist that you try maybe going to college online. That way you can look after your child and go to college without leaving home.

Good luck. :)

EDIT: Then do you have maybe a friend or feel comfortable hiring a babysitter to look after your daughter while you're at school?

Nope not too old. I am 29 and have 3 kids. I go to school full time. I was worried that I was going to be the oldest but trust me when I tell you there are people way older than us in school. There are two 50+ year old people in one of my classes. As far as having a child, I also have a 2 year old and 2 older school aged children. I go to school while they are at school and my university has an on site daycare that watches my baby while I am in class. It is possible!

You are not too old. I know a person who started medical school at 30 and a woman who started a LPN (one year nursing program) at 48. Both were very successful. Good luck! Btw, what is sahm?

No, you're not to old. Go back, but don't drop out again, follow through with it.

I can't see any reason why you can't. Here in the UK people go to university after they have retired at 65.
