Hey guys,
So college is starting next week, and i already have an assignment (my English teacher told us to read 2 articles that we might have a quiz on it the first day). And my other classes i have to buy all these book, one of them was like $180 on ebay. So i thought well throughout my live i never really bought music CD or videos games, cause i just pirate them online. So i thought i should do the same save up some money. Only problem is idk if its better to have the textbook itself or and electronic version, like do teachers mind whether you have the text book on your ipad or laptop in class. And can anyone tell me what the pros and cons are for each of them (physical or e-books)

Sometimes you can rent physical texts for much less than buying. Sometimes electronic texts do not have page numbers, so that can be a problem. Some people like electronic texts since carrying a Kindle could be lighter than a hefty textbook. Whatever you decide, be sure to acquire the correct edition.

I prefer physical textbook because if I use electronic my eyes start hurting, then my head, I will get distracted, and sometimes my electronics are not portable or may ran out of battery. physical textbooks are better because I won't get distracted by the world wide web, it makes it way easier to read and I can also put mini post-its on important information or marking where I left off and also it is easily accessible.

The ebooks would be lighter, of course, but the physical books could be resold. You might be able to find a used book being sold by another student who would throw in their notes from when he or she took the course as well. Before you buy any books, physical or online, attend ONE class to see what books are actually needed; sometimes the books are ordered but the professor revises the syllabus over the summer. In addition to buying physical books, some colleges now allow you to rent them. For English literature classes, some novels may be available at the library for free! The only problem if you get the book in a different format might be page numbers, whether you get an ebook or a different edition.

One advantage of having a traditional textbook is being able to make notes in them Another advantage is that they are battery independent.

It all depends of your preference, I for one like a traditional book in my hands because it's easier for me to follow along.
