Without looking anything up on the computer or elsewhere, how many Canadian provinces can you name? Can you name the capital city of Canada and the name of our Prime Minister?..........Please prove to me that there are some Americans out there who know a little something beyond their own borders :)

The Capitol City is Ottawa

The provinces are British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, Newfoundland, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick and then there are the Yukon and Northwest territories.

And you're right I am blanking on the name of the Prime Minister, but he is a conservative (the name begins with an H right?) The last PM was Jean Chretien if memory serves.

I hate trick questions.

Montana, Minnesota, Calgary, Vancouver, Montreal ... I forget the rest.

Canada has no capital, they just borrow London. They also do not have a fourth of July, they jump right from the third to the fifth. This is why Thanksgiving is on the wrong day.

Tony Blair. HA! Betcha didn't think I'd get that one.

It is Friday and I am punchy, have a nice weekend eh?

I know all the above - but I don't think its fair for me to enter this contest because I have Canadan relatives. Just out of curiousity how many Canadans do you think can honestly answer all of those questions? Since you have so few provinces et al how well do you do on naming all the US states and their capitals?

Good Luck!!!

Aren't these questions on the "Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?" game show?

I am proud to say I can answer all of these questions, probably because I live in Michigan and regularty listen to and watch CBC..plus spend time in Windsor and Stratford.

Unfortuantely for us, Americans are very self-centered, but I guess this question could also be looked at as Canadians being insecure :)

Well done Adam!

You got it almost 100% right (you left out Nunavat, but no biggie).

What's depressing is not that so many people didn't get the answers, but how many people got all defensive and uptight about the question in the first place.

I travelled from New York to Texas and back last year, and loved every minute of it (doing it again next month).I wouldn't dream of getting defensive and snarky if someone asked me to name every State capitol in the U.S.--I freely admit that I don't know.

I hate to admit it, but not much...I actually don't think we learned much on Canadian geography in school. I know Ontario since we used to go to Windsor all the time...but beyond that...maybe Quebec (since there's always the push for that to become a separate country) and if I thought long and hard about it...maybe a few more.

We know a lot about subjects beyond our borders. We cant help it if Canada has little fame and little international involment. every american knows the Sadam, and Castro. Why becuse they are more outspoken. Canada needs to speak out more, and get more involved if it wants to be known.

Please tell me who the head of switzerland is, and what is the capital. Switzerland has more international fame than Canada and has i higher GDP and larger stock exchange!

You should really blame the schools for the lack of knowledge in Americans. I cannot remember a single year when we actually studied Canada. As a matter of fact we never studied Asia and Africa either. The school system that I grew up in only focused on European and American history and disregarded the rest of the world. Unless school districts change their policies, Americans will not be as informed as others.

I'll list out your provinces from memory if you list out our states from memory.

(BTW, I've been to all your provinces and territories except NW, PEI, Newfoundland, NB, and NS. How many states have YOU been to? Hmmmmmm....)

I can do it. I can also run through some European countries if you like, and a few of their subdivisions.

I'm also a gun-owning religious-right bushbot rethuglican meat-eater. Fear me.

I know nothing about Canade because my studies do not include Geography. Its not of that much importance to us either, this does not impact daily life at all.
