What does bullshitting on a paper mean?

I failed so many classes and essay exams because I would just write briefly what I wanted to say to answer the question. I would read all the text but still have little more to say than the direct answer. When I asked my friends how they could write 10 page papers or 2 pages of an essay, they would tell to "bullshit"most of it. What does that mean? It's hard enough just writing about what I know. Could someone give me an example of bullshitting? I would like to do grad school, but I have never managed to write more than 5 pages on something.

Bullshitting on a paper is just repeating yourself over and over again but in different ways.



To add bulk to your BS, you can also include ways on how you got there, how other persons may see your one observation, and how others feel about you saying your observation.



Examples:



The painting of the flower was beautiful but no one noticed.

(becomes...)

The magnificent flower was almost weighed down by its own beauty. Every petal dripped with design and the colors jumped from the canvas. The artists soul was presented in this flower but it seemed as though every person who walked by chose to ignore the life poured into art.



Bullshitting is actually one of my favorite past times.

My life has been spent doing mundane things. What feels like once every hundred years I find something to catch my attention. A past time, something simple and pure, this is what I live for. My drive is to complete an amusing task after the next, not to squander the life I have in front of me. Yes, bullshitting, a necessity for some, is my amusement for life.

It's the art of politics and conspiracy theories. It's taking the smallest connection between two subjects and running away with it. It's explaining something so thoroughly that you almost convince yourself that it's true.



For example. Go to youtube and listen to the song Grapevine Fires by Death Cab for Cutie. I wrote a five page essay trying to explain how the song is an allegory to the religious theme of sin, persecution, death, and resurrection. Total bullshit, but anyone that reads my essay will be convinced by it. You can pretty much make any story or song have a religious theme to it if you want. That's my best bullshitting method.



Don't worry so much about being truthful. Twist the facts around to suit your argument. It's school. Don't worry about ethics until you get into the real world.

Yes, In life you will be face with many questions that people will want you to know the answer or enough of an answer to help them on there way. Lies on the other hand is not a good thing. Always speak the truth even when bullshitting.

bullshiting just means to half *** it, basically just do the bare minimum and try to expand everything like if I had to write an essay as to why people started heading west in the united states in the mid 80's but i didnt know anything on manifest destiny i would just bullshit it and say because they didint like the east and it was getting cramped up, see what im saying?

It means that what they wrote on their paper is bullshit. In other words, they would write lies on their essays. \when theytell you to bullshit most of it, they are actually telling you to make up or lie about most of what you are intending about writing.
