Question:
2 majors and 2 minors?

I want to major in public relations and psychology. However, I want to be a little more well rounded so I also wanted to minor in marketing and photojournalism. Do you think that these are a good mix? Or am I taking on too much? I do think that I can handle it, since I've always been quite an overachiever, but will my degree choice look attractive to future employers?

Your employers don't care what's on your transcript except in the sense that it's somewhat pertinent to the job for which you're applying. Of course, as a recent university graduate, you won't have that much more than your transcript on your CV. However, a whole bunch of majors and minors are not really all that different from simple course work. Presumably, your interest in psychology supports your interest in public relations and marketing. Photojournalism may be another area that supports what you do elsewhere.

The work that's marketable on your transcript is in PR and marketing. Therefore, I suggest a major in PR and minor in marketing. Psychology isn't going to get you immediate work--you'd have to pursue at least a Master's in the area and probably a Doctorate before you could get work as a psychologist. So I suggest you just do coursework in that area. Likewise with photojournalism--that's not a degree that will get you a job. What will get you work is your talent in that area. So I suggest you just take course work there as well, tyring to improve your skills.

You have a set there with very little overlap. You're looking at 7 years of college minimum to get that done. In 7 years you could have a bachelor's degree AND a master's or law degree. [60 hours gen ed, 40+ hours each major, 21 hours each minor = 182 semester hours. That's over the "professional student" mark as well. Financial aid stops flowing between 160 and 180.]

A bachelor's degree in psychology has no workplace value. That field requires a minimum of a master's degree for any professional position. Photojournalism also doesn't require a degree - that field requires demonstrable talent.

PR and Marketing are so closely related that HR will consider them duplicative and give the extra time no value at all.

If you truly want to enhance a PR bachelor's degree then get a minor in math or stats. If you just must double major because you have plenty of time and money; do business or econ with the PR. It just so happens that every business in the world is in business.

Some notes:

* "well rounded" is taken care of in a bachelor's degree by all of that core general education. You don't get more well rounded by specializing in more things.

* PR is a highly competitive field to enter. Those jobs are few and far between. Add something here that is a bit more vocational if you want to "look attractive to future employers."

It sounds like you're going to have a hell of a time graduating in four years, if you're even allowed to double up on majors and minors in the first place. Psychology doesn't do you much good as a major. I understand that it's interesting, but it's also among the most popular undergraduate majors. Everyone wants to major in psych, no one wants to do the work required to actually end up working in the field. Photojournalism, though interesting, isn't all that attractive to employers either. Honestly, if you want to go into public relations, majoring in PR and minoring in marketing are probably the best combinations of study you've described. Everything else is just making extra work for you.

Photojournalism will be a waste of time. There are virtually no jobs in that field and it does not fit with the other named subjects. Two majors and two minors will usually require five years of study or at least attending summer sessions every summer.

with the intention to attempt this you would possibly want to ought to finish some thing like 2 hundred gadgets in 4 years. it truly is about 40 gadgets a semester. maximum faculties gained't enable you to're taking more advantageous than about 18 gadgets a semester devoid of particular permission - and that i have not heard of someone taking more advantageous than about 20 gadgets. Now that is available that with summer season guidance and wintry climate consultation you would possibly want to do it in about 6 years, yet you'll be killing your self for 6 years immediately. My suggestion might want to be to artwork on the Journalism significant/English minor and take some performing guidance as electives.
