If I was to do a bachelore of arts, what timetable could I expect for fulltime study. How many days a week would I have to attend the university, and how long are semesters. I know that it depends on subjects and stuff but if someone could just give me a rough estimate on what the usual thing would be and are lectures and tutorials usually early or late in the day, and for part time study as well please as I wish to know how I could work around having a fulltime job that would release me for a day or two per week, thanks

hiii there. which uni were you looking at? try looking it up on their website.

full-time doesnt necessarily mean you'll be there every day. im doing a bachelor of communications and im full-time, but im only at uni 3 days a week.

lectures and tuts really do differ, there is no general rule as to what time they are on. here is a general rundown of the dates for my uni:

Semester Dates - 2008

Semester 1 commences Monday 18 February 2008

Easter Recess Friday 21 March to Tuesday 25 March 2008

Semester 1 continues Wednesday 26 March 2008

Semester 1 Recess (includes Anzac Day) Monday 14 April to Friday 25 April 2008

Semester 1 resumes Monday 28 April 2008

Semester 1 concludes Friday 6 June 2008

Queen's Birthday Public Holiday Monday 9 June 2008

Mid Year Examinations Tuesday 10 June to Friday 27 June 2008

Mid Year Recess Monday 30 June to Friday 18 July 2008

Semester 2 commences Monday 21 July 2008

Semester 2 Recess (includes

Labour Day Public Holiday) Monday 29 September to Friday 10 October 2008

Semester 2 resumes Monday 13 October 2008

Semester 2 concludes Friday 7 November 2008

End of Year Examinations Monday 10 November to Friday 28 November 2008

what you really need to do is decide what uni u want to study at and look at the semester dates. get in touch with someone from the uni if you have more questions because it will differ between uni's.

A bachelors degree is 4 years, or 8 semesters. Semesters run Sept - Dec and Jan - May, and while you can take a few courses over the summer you can't take as many as you can during a semester. Most students take 4 or 5 courses a semester as full-time students. Classes are usually scheduled either Mon-Wed-Fri or Tues-Thurs between 8 am and 5 pm. You might have 2 or 3 classes a day, but typically not more than that. If you're a part-time student, you might be able to schedule your 2 or 3 classes to meet on the same days - MWF or TTh - so you can work the other days.

This depends on a number of things. A bachelor of arts degree can be a three-four year degree (sometimes five if the university offers an honors year) depending on the university/location.

When I completed a Bachelors degree I did a four-year degree. This took an average of five courses per semester (12-14 weeks) two semesters per year (or alternativly less courses per semester if summer courses are taken). On campus in class time is class by class. Labs are mandatoy attendance whereas lectures you can skip of attendance is not part of the final grade (and if you feel comfortable with the matterial on your own).

You can also complete a Bachelor of Art by taking correspondance courses with a local university, or even from any (credited- that's important) University online.

Of course the time it takes to finish the degree will also depend on how well you perform. Some major relevent courses may require a certain overall percentage.

days a week - in my experience, around 4

semesters- fall is way shorter (around 3 months) fall is way longer, (4 or as long as 5 months)

Part-time jobs are best. I've done both fulltime, part time, and workstudy, and though workstudy programs (where you work in the school library or offices) is the easiest and most flexible, it also doesn't pay as well.

If you schedule early enough, you should be able to get pretty much anything you want. You could have MWF, T/TH, or everyday. 12+ credits is full time.
