I've applied to MIT, Boston University, Purdue University, WPI, UC Berkeley, UC San Diego, Cal Poly Pomona, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, and Pasadina City College. But I received an email today that tells me to apply to Cal State Dominguez Hills. My friends are accepted to this college like a month ago but they don't want to go to that college and they told me that they accept everyone who applied there. So should I apply to Cal State Dominguez Hills? Is that school this bad that no one wants to go? I want to major in electrical engineering at college. I got 1300 on the SAT and never took the ACT. Most colleges' deadline is approaching and I just can't seem to find the right college that will accept me. My GPA is around 3.3 and I only have one extracurricular activity so far. I'm a senior and will graduate this June. Should I apply to Santa Monica College and transfer to 4 year college? Can someone please tell me what to do? I'm very lost. And I don't want to go to a college that can't let me find a job after I graduate. The colleges that I've applied to are all very competitive and I just need to find colleges that are good for EE (my major) and have high job placement rates.

Cal State Dominguez Hills has an ABET-accredited CS program but not an EE program. There are many other CSU branches that do have ABET-accredited CS programs. See link below. Apply to some of these. Estimate your chances of acceptance via the scattergrams in the admissions sections of the Cappex sites for these schools (www.cappex.com).

Most of the schools on your list are very selective. With a 3.3 GPA, your chances are not good at most of those places. You might get into Purdue. In general, you should apply to 2-3 reach schools, 3-4 target schools, and 2-3 safety schools. You applied mostly to far reach schools.

If you have a 3.3 GPA and a 1300 on the SAT, many of the schools you applied to are way out of your reach. You will not be accepted to MIT, BU, Berkeley, or UCSD. You'll have very low chances at Purdue, WPI, and the Cal Poly schools. Applying to Dominguez Hills may not be a bad idea to give yourself more options.

Is that 1300 Math + Reading or 1300 overall? I think if it's 1300 Math + Reading then you definitely have a good chance at the UC's. Of course there are other factors as well!
