Can you please give me college ideas based on my credentials?

I am having THE hardest time trying to find a school that seems right for me. I can't visit any until I have narrowed down my list, and right now I don't have any on my list. I will like research on google about good colleges and then go to studentsreview.com to see what the actual students say and that just makes it so much harder, but it also helps me weed out the ones I think I would hate.

Anyway, I am from Idaho. But I am sick of this small town, western state. I want to go to the east coast. My family says I will hate it there and the people aren't nice and blah blah blah, but I am really optimistic about it and think I would like it. We also have relatives there.
So I'm looking for a good school, that is big (i like the idea of big schools, unless you REALLY suggest I go to a smaller school) in Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, or New York.

Here are my credentials.
I got a 21, then 23 on my ACT.
I graduated with a 3.6, or higher, I can't remember. I graduated with honors, in the maybe top 25% of my class or something...
I took only one ap class my senior year (i know that is not good but I honestly was not thinking about college)
I was not involved with school, I decided to work instead of be involved with school and i did work my junior and senior year after school.
and my freshman and sophomore year i took piano lessons.
no sports or anything like that.

I know my stats are not that great but I honestly want to be challenged in college, and I am ready to try my hardest and to work hard. The only reason I didn't do better in school was because my school did not motivate me at all, and I was always bored in school, and I just got lazy because I was never challenged or anything, and we had really sucky classes.

The school that i want to go to more than anything in the world is Boston University. And I know its hard to get in to and everything, but i feel like it would be a good school for me, and they probably wouldn't look twice at my application, but I am so tempted to apply...should i?

But anyway if you could help me out and answer my questions, i know i wrote a lot im sorry, but my parents are too wrapped up in their own lives to help me pick a school so i'm sort of on my own, and i need help.

Well, I live on the East Coast, but I'm down in North Carolina, so I only know about the colleges around here.

You could get into East Carolina University. Probably UNC-Wilmington, UNC-Pembroke, UNC-Greensboro, or UNC-Charlotte, Appalachian State, or Western Carolina.

UNC-W is right on the beach, so it's pretty nice. Western Carolina and Appalacian State are in the mountains. The rest are just in the middle of NC.

Anyways, I've been living here for about 5 years now, and most people are nice.

Sorry I can't offer you much on the colleges of the Northeast, but I just thought I'd tell you about NC since it's out here on the east coast at least.

Oh and as for Boston College, it might be worth doing an application if the application is full of essay questions. But if it's mainly based on grades/extracurriculars, then it's up to you if you want to spend the money to apply there.

Don't overlook the Big Ten Schools of the Midwest. Midwesterners are fun loving hard working and very welcoming. The Big Ten Schools offer any kind of academic program you want without the snobbery. Check out Iowa, Michigan St. Indiana, Minnesota and Ohio St. University of Illinois is a frat dominated campus. UM is selective as is Northwestern

it's not very likely that you will get into Boston University, but its worth a shot

i would also consider:

university of new hampshire

university of vermont

connecticut state

university of massachusetts

quinnipiac university

fairfield university

university of rhode island

any of those would be good fits

for more info i would check out www.collegeboard.com and it will give you a pretty good idea

but the northeast is a great place to go to college : )

i live in boston and i love it here..but it is very different from the midwest

still, if you're interested in a great college location, the northeast is perfect!

good luck : )
