I have an issue regarding whether my rights were violated and if I could file a lawsuit. I went to look at my student account at my university today, charges were applied and signed up for that I did not sign up for. I called the school and they said they went ahead and signed me up. I never agreed to anything with the school. I just happen to notice the issue today when I looked at my bank account online. Charges were applied to my account and I never would have noticed them until when I paid my bill. The school said that if I didnt want the charges that I would have to take care of it today because today was the last day before I was charged the amount.I called them and asked them to give me a call back and instead somebody sent me an email back. I had class today and missed it because I was trying to take care of this issue. I went to class and left early and when I got home noticed that the guy sent me an email this afternoon when the deadline was 5pm today. I would have been charged had I not left class early and went home to check my email. Once again, I never agreed or signed up for anything and if I hadnt have checked my account today, I would never have noticed it. They charged over a couple of thousands of dollars to my account. They have done this to other people I found today but those people did not notice. They claimed later that another person got onto my account and that they would have corrected it later. The guy said that people could enter the wrong student number and sign up the wrong person. I feel like my account was violated by the school and wanted to know if I could file a lawsuit against the school? Their is a big security issue here.

I hate to say it, but it doesn't sound like you have a case. You have signed paperwork and trust me in the small tiny lettering somewhere is a clause about charging your account, I guarantee it :<.

If the university is going to correct the issue, then you shouldn't waste the time and money filing a lawsuit. Make sure you file a complaint with your bank/credit card account that they charged so that if any negative effects happen they know that you are disputing the amount.

Also, get a letter from the school stating that they initiated the charges without your authorization, and ask that they take care of any NSF/insufficient or overdraft fees or over the limit fees charged by your bank or credit card. If they refuse, then you should file a lawsuit agains them for any returned checks and not only the fees that are added by your bank, but the fees from any other company you wrote checks or automated charges to, because it can take 30 days to credit your account for a refund/corrected debit amount.

because of fact that whilst do not coaches fall under FERPA? S/he's an worker of the college, good? Then it covers him. i might ask somebody not connect with the college, possibly a criminal expert, this question. ETA: The coach confirmed your data to fellow gamers, definite? they don't seem to be workers, good?

Yes you can. You can either go talk to a lawyer or talk to your school's student union, and within the student government, they will often have a ombudsmen committee or person that can help you deal with unfair academic treatment. Hope this helps!

You should call a lawyer and get there opinion on it. It was a violation of privacy and your rights to do that. If they say you should then you should. tons of money with that.
