Hi Vineet

Before starting a project, you need to identifies what you already learn in your previous studies, what you can do for doing a project, choose the best software project that you can manage to finish, it depend on the skill you have learned. after choose a topic then start doing research to get more idea from other people project with the topic you choose. you can also look for some good tutorial to learn how to develop a software.

For example: I know flash programing more then other programing, so i will mostly choose develop flash application as the topic of my project

what are you interested in? Web type projects seem to be popular at the moment. Personally my project is on developing a type inference system for a subset of javascript and bundling it as an eclipse plugin. If you tell me your interests it would be easier. Alternatively you could look over some other uni's departmental websites for what they are suggesting to their students

You could find an interesting Open Source Project and start contributing to it. It is excellent experience, looks awesome on a resume and is for a great cause.
