What kind of careers do people with two foreign language majors go into?

I'm a senior in high school right now taking French 3. I'm very good at French, so I don't want to drop it, but I would also like to learn Russian or Japanese.
Also, since I'm a senior, I'm looking at colleges - of course - but I'm not sure what to look for! Other than languages, I'm interested in graphic design and creative writing. I'm also interested in being an interpreter/translator. But all I see are business majors to couple the languages.

So, I guess I'm just a little lost puppy. Is it a good idea to major in 2 languages? What kind of careers could a foreign language major go into?

These are a few possible 'majors/fields of majors' for you to look into with your involvement and liking of foreign languages:

-Business

-Finance

-Politics (government work; translating, interpreting, international relations, etc.)

-Medicine

-Global Studies

-Linguistics

-Communications

-Major in a language or a few languages

Your two best options for career opportunities would be in Business and Politics.

However, you can do so much research in a Linguistics field. Check out the Wikipedia link I provided you in my sources and look on the right-hand side boxes. Here you will see a box titled "Applied Linguistics," which is a list of sub-fields within this large field. You have many options here, as well.

You could also look into the advertising side of Business and get into international advertisement design and/or marketing, which would require you to be skillful in graphic design and in languages.

It is good that you are looking into Russian because it is a well sought-after language of many governments. By doing this, you are opening up many more opportunities for yourself.

I hope this helps!

I would suggest when you go to college doing something like a Global Studies major. Not only will you be learning to speak the languages, but you will be learning about the history, politics, society, etc. about the regions as well. You might consider double majoring in something like communications since you like writing, and you are interested in becoming an interpreter/translator.

I think you also answered your question yourself. A translator/interpreter would be a good job. You could also get into politics and be an ambassador. Of course, like you mentioned, there are lots of great job opportunities in business for those who speak multiple languages.
