I hope to get into at least one of these three. I live in Virginia and would just like some input on my chances of getting into these schools
GPA - 4.438 (4.0 unweighted) - I work very very hard for my grades
Rank - 1 of 96
Just took the SAT's recently and got an 1870. 1240 on Math/Critical Reading
Extracurriculars - Played a Varsity sport since 10th grade (JV in 9th)
Attended the Governor's School for Life Sciences and Medicine
Volunteered 50+ hours every summer at my local hospital
10th grade - Treasurer of Foreign Language Club
11th grade - Class Vice President
Foreign Language Vice President
SCA Vice President
I will be taking SAT Subject tests this upcoming year.

Additional Info: My mother went to W&M, and my dad went to UVA (not sure if this helps or not)

Input is appreciated

I definitely think you'll have a very good chance to get into William & Mary or UVA with that resume, especially as an in state resident, and as the child of an alumnus at both schools. I'm actually going to William & Mary in the fall as an out of stater and although, my SAT scores were higher, you have plenty of strong academics and a lot of leadership which colleges love. (More than me anyways, so that much leadership will be appealing in an application)

I'm not sure about the University of Michigan. It will be a little tougher as an out of state applicant, but the flip side is that the school has a slightly higher admit rate than William & Mary and UVA. But as long as you keep up good grades in challenging AP/honors classes, the leadership, and write a killer essay, I'm sure you'll also have a very good chance at the University of Michigan.

The following websites give the academic profile of these school's admitted students, such as mid 50% range of the SAT of admitted students and also answers questions about what the schools are typically looking for in an applicant.

I hope this helps!

Your record is good enough that you have a better than even chance to get into at least one of these schools. Be sure to mention that your parent was a graduate on the appropriate applications. Mention their year of graduation and also their name. Make sure to use the same name for your mother that she used when she graduated.

Also, try to take some AP courses if they are offered and, if they are not, explain in your essay that your school was too small to offer any.

i think you have a pretty good chance.. just work hard on your essays. i think college admission is really all about essays.

and your gpa really good, although your sat scores are kinda on the line. but i think except for that you have a good chance.
