College essay on singing in the shower?

So my AP English teacher told me to write my personal essay on something funny or weird...or both.
Something that catches the reader's attention.
Is singing in the shower way too out there?
And any advice on how to structure this essay?
I feel completely lost.

That's not a good idea. It's too trivial and you don't want to get the attention of readers in this particular way. It's appropriate to undress for a shower, but not appropriate to write about what you do when you're undressed. Male readers will form an image which you would probably prefer that they do not.

You asked, "Is singing in the shower way too out there?" I think not so much. Afterall, when I was in undergrad there a guy in my communications course that wrote an essay and gave a speech about hotdogs- yes, hotdogs and surprisingly, it was quite interesting, because he went into the history of hotdogs, how they're made, all the different ways you can cook them, etc. So, you could literally write about anything. What will make the essay interesting is what you choose to incorporate into your essay. You would probably need to look at any research that has been done on voice training and if singing in the shower has ever been known to improve one's voice; things like that, and then personalize it by writing about how it makes your own voice sound.

I love Love Love the idea!!! First, you should look into science/history of it. Why is it so popular? Why do many people do it without thinking? Is it just good singers? Or only bad singers? Is it because of the water making noise? What is the most popular genre of music sung in the shower? Stuff like that. You can also do like... the majority of people who don't sing, ________ instead. Fill in the blank. I know it will be a GREAT essay! Good luck!
