flux are field lines. In reference to the electric motors... when electric current flows through a wire placed in a magnetic field, the wire moves in the direction perpendicular to the magnetic flux and also to the direction of electric current.
In reality flux lines are "imaginary". They were used by Michael Farady to explain electric and magnetic field lines.
