Epsilon breach on CollegeBoard? What's going on?

Did anyone get an email from Collegeboard saying there is a breach where someone got people's information?

As for this breach, you can't sue Epsilon because they didn't do anything. They provide Email marketing for many companies and as such they're a target for hackers. Said hackers have recently stolen vast amounts of data but if what the Collegeboard email said is true, in our case it shouldn't be anything truly compromising.

Yes, I got one too. It is saying that there may have been a hacker attack on Epsilon, which may have resulted in your name and email-id being available to the hacker. They specifically say that SSN or credit card info was not available to Epsilon, so those could not possibly have been obtained by the hacker.



They ask you that if you receive any emails from suspicious or unknown sources, take care, and avoid clicking links and attachments in such mails.

They say only email addresses, but I got a phone call over the weekend about my child and their recent SAT test at school, and they were trying to sell me study programs for $350. So I think more than just the email addresses were breached.

No, I did not and I work for a college. On the other hand, there has been discussion of some problematic legal changes in the Epsilon privacy policy. Plans to integrate Epsilon use with college classes are being scrapped as a result. It's like how Facebook going public negatively impacted how colleges use Facebook...



If it did happen (and I have not checked my Epsilon account since Friday), it is just one more nail in the Epsilon coffin at this point. I've already erased it from my fall syllabus.

I got the email as well. I just started to get spam messages in my email in the past couple of days, and I guess that it's because of this security breach. I did some research and it turns out that this exposure of information is big news.

I just got THREE of the same letter - about Epsilon and The College Boards. However, this letter has at least one word spelled wrong, which leads me to believe its spam. don't click on the links! When I got three - with a new one coming every hour - I have to say - I am very suspicious.

I got it too, yesterday at 1-ish. I was so freaked out, SSN is so **** important. I can't believe this! And im more worried about my parents since its their credit card. Whoever hacked into their epsilon I hope they die! :@:@:@

apparently some of our information was exposed to a "third party"...but the only info that was shown was our names and email addresses... :/

for the reason that Thursday, I won e mail alerts from 3 lenders and one telephone call from card protection. this suggests that each and every physique could be greater conscious of emails soliciting for pins and account type verifications.

yea i got that email too...but i'm also got about 60 mails of spam in one day from [e-mail], [e-mail], and [e-mail] and all of them have an attachment to it so i'm not sure if it's because of collegeboard...
