Can one take the classes needed for a minor AFTER graduating with a bacholors degree?

I have 6 classes left until I graduate with my bachelors degree. I'm planning on taking 4 in the winter semester and the other 2 in the spring and then graduating with my bachelors degree in May 2007. What I want to know is, would I be able to graduate and then in the summer and fall take the other 5 classes that I need for my 2 minors? (I'll need 3 extra classes for my minorin history and 2 for my spanish minor)

I don't want to wait until I get my minors completed because it'll take an extra 7 months and I want my bachelors degree ASAP so that I can look for a job sooner.

Will I be able to do this? Will I be able to get my degree and then have my minors noted later on my transcript??

Of course you can take more classes after you get you Bachelor's Degree. My advice is graduate in the Spring. If you have an interest in taking more classes -- take them. Don't worry about whether or not you can get the official minor.



Whether you can then get an official Minor is dependent on the school you go to (my university did not have minors -- so your plan wouldn't work).



You may want to ask yourself why you are doing this. No one cares about Minors -- especially if they are in History or Spanish. It isn't like having an official minor will get you a better job or get you into graduate school.

Your Registrar's Office can tell you for sure. But in most instances, no, once you've gotten a degree awarded, that's it. Your transcript would show that you have a B.A. and the other courses ("non-degree-seeking courses," probably) added on afterward.



This is why it's difficult to have dual majors or even dual minors.



On the other hand, your not having minors is not going to be very important to most employers. And how do you intend to take five classes in two terms while working? That's going to be very difficult or impossible. I suggest you get the minors full-time if you are going to grad school in a related subject within two years. If not, just graduate without the minors in 2007 and don't worry about it.

No. If you graduate, that's it. You can't go back and take classes to complete minors later and have it all be a part of the same degree program. The classes would show up on your transcript, but they would not be considered minors.

no. Once you meet the requirements for your degree, and it is granted, it is what it is. Classes you take after would go towards your next degree!. I know how you feel, though, I was a half class short in Sociology to have a double major in English and Sociology - so Soc. is my minor for that degree.
