The local community college or "county" public vo-tech school may offer an EMT program. I don't believe, however, that it would be available from online as the student will need to get hands-on clinical experience, if even, first in a simulated clinic.
For U.S. community colleges:

The Community College of Aurora has an EMT-Basic program, though, I don't personally know anyone who has attended the school:

Arapahoe Community College also has an EMS program. Here is their website:

The EMT does need to have a great amount of physical and emotional stamina. One may be working alongside patients who are in severe distress, pain, and/or who may be aggressive. EMTs work in all kinds of weather and road conditions, too.
One can go to yahoo.com and type into search "EMT and Colorado community college" or something to that effect.
