I am taking pre-nursing classes at my school. First you need to take all of the required classes. At each college, they are different, but these are guaranteed:
- Biology - This is a requirement to become a nurse. You need to take this class. Many medical positions require that you take more than one course.
- Pyschology - Definitely take this class if you're planning on moving to the medical field
- English 101 and English 102 - you need to make an A in these classes. To be a nurse, you need to know how to read/write well. Many medical positions require that you take more than one Eng. course.
- Math 101 (aka College Algebra) & possibly another math - You need to do fairly well in these classes. At LEAST make a C.
- Chemistry - At most places, this is optional. Check with your advisor first to check.
- History 101 (aka American History)- Many colleges require this class.
Overall, check with your advisor first, but I know the English, Math, and History classes are required by most colleges regardless of your degree. The Psychology and Bio classes are definitely required to get a nursing degree. As for the others, like I said, check with your advisor. Colleges vary so not all requirements are the same.
