What are my chances at Cornell after being deferred?

I just got deferred by Cornell University. I applied Early decision. I am in National Honor Society. I have a 4.3 GPA, and my SAT is 1980. I have 5 AP classes this year. I am trilingual (Arabic, French, & English). I am trying to find out what Cornell's acceptance for deferred students is, but I can't find it anywhere. The deferred admission stat is usually easily found on a school's admissions page, but I can't find it!! Any thoughts, stats, or experience on this subject? By the way, I applied to the School of Industrial Labor Relations.

I can't say for sure but im betting the chances are not in your favor since you were applying against 3000 other applicants, and now you will be compared against 30,000 or so. However, I don't think it was your SAT alone that brought you down, because I as well applied to Cornell and got accepted, with only a 1910.

It is probably due to your low SAT scores. I mean, I only got an 1860, but I am not applying to Cornell. They probably wanted at least a 2100 or something, I don't know, but at least you have only been deferred.

Well, your course load, GPA, rank, and extracurriculars are really good. I think what led to your deferral was your SAT scores. Unfortunately, I would have to say that your chances at getting accepted RD are less than 50% because the point of the deferral is that they want to to see how you compare to the RD applicants and the RD application pool is typically more competitive than the ED pool and probably gets more competitive every year. As far as Hopkins and Duke, I would say it's unlikely. If you live in NC, then yes for UNC, if not then unlikely. It is SO hard to get into Chapel Hill from out of state. And I think you will get into all the others. Best of luck!
