Most jobs require you to be at a specific location. Usually part-time jobs are most helpful if you want free time but they don't pay that well. You have 24 hours in a day. You spend 8 of it sleeping, that means you have 16 hours for everything else. So if you spend another 8 hours at work, then that leaves you with 8 hours to eat, go out with friends, free time, etc.

btw teachers do not get a lot of free time; it is not an 8-4 job, teachers take their work home with them and have a lot to do.

You teach from 8-4, get there before the students and leave after them, and stay even later if you do after-school programs or need to clean up the classroom or get it ready for the next day. You go home and grade the work from the day, and prepare the next day's lesson plans and materials; for 2-6 separate lessons. Need to plan and have alternate materials for students with different ability levels, and some 'special ed' students mean the teacher has paperwork for them.

Even summers are used planning lessons and units, getting things ready for the year, taking classes or seminars for continuing education, updating lessons to meet with new books or changed standards.

Common misconception there, but as a college student in a teacher's education program, I have learned how much teachers have to do
