I'm thinking about transferring credits from a community college to Ashworth College to finish my 2 year degree however I am considering going for 4 year degree after obtaining my 2 year degree. My question being as it that Ashworth College is nationally accredited and not regionally accredited. And regionally accredited colleges don't always accept credits from nationally accredited colleges. What 4 year colleges will accept credit from Ashworth College ? FYI ashworth College Is accredited by the distance education and training Council Which is a recognized accrediting body By the United States Department of Education look it up.

I would not recommend Ashworth. I have heard job recruiters refer to it as "ashworthless" or "trashworth". Employers often automatically reject job applicants listing ANY for-profit school or ANY online degree. Sadly, Ashworth falls into both of those very negative categories.

Online programs are not well accepted since the student could easily cheat by hiring an impostor to take the online courses. The school has no way of knowing who is actually doing the work. As a result, ANY online course is considered somewhat bogus, even if from a legit school. A college near me recently announced that they will accept NO online course credits for transfer. Obviously it is far easier for a student to cheat in an online program versus a monitored classroom. It has been said that the "distance learning" student only learns to be distant from any decent learning. Attend college in person rather than wasting your time and money on any online for-profit school.

As for accreditation, look for regional accreditation rather than national accreditation. Regional accreditation is a far better standard. Also remember that just because a school has accreditation at one location, that does NOT mean that all of it's locations or online programs have the same level of accreditation. A local public community college should have regional accreditation and be considered more respectable than anything Ashworth offers. The community college should also be a lower cost and a better value. Talk to your community college adviser about transferring to a regionally accredited university-NOT any online school or for-profit school like Ashworth.

Please be aware that, unfortunately, national accreditation for a school is basically worthless :) Schools are supposed to be regionally accredited (just as you'd mentioned) by one of the six regional accrediting agencies from CHEA's website. On that note, however, even if the for-profit school is regionally accredited, their course credits usually do NOT transfer to other schools, as you were questioning.

The state-public university tends to offer some online classes. It's usually more affordable than a for-profit school, too.

This website has the six regional accrediting agencies to look for when considering attending school:
