I'm not sure if I should get a Mac or PC for college. I'm focusing mostly on math and science, and was wondering if a MacBook Pro would be fast enough and compatible enough.

Personally I feel the most important job of a computer is to solve problem not create problem. It doesn't really a big matter whether you are using in math, science, or history, I am a PC user for a decade, and Windows has been unstable and creating many disasters. If you are willing to spend a little time, say 1 or 2 days. I believe master how to use a Mac is quite easy.
Many has switch to Mac, it is really matter of habit. So is a choice for you, whether to choose to be lazy and afraid of small change, or spend a little time and open a new world of stability and features to yourself, where many people has proved that Mac is top choice in the world today.
Hope my personal sharing helps you. What I witness in Mac are it is faster than PC for sure, consume less electricity, and stable. Crashing and losing precious data is catastrophic

PC if you've never had a mac before. You don't want to waste your time learning how to use a mac when you have better things to do like study and meet new people.

I'm in physics, and I switched from a PC running Linux to a Mac a few years back. It's great. Never going back.
