How do I reference the Bible in an essay?

I've been told to refrence like this:

In text - (Crowley 1996)
Bibliography - Crowley, Vivianne. 1996. Wicca: The Old Religion in the New Millennium. London: Thorsons.

My question is how I would refrence the Bible in the same format as those examples.

The Bible I am using is Todays New International Version, published in 2008 by The International Bible Society.

Thanks in advance!

Blah blah blah blah (Book Chapter:Verse Translation) blah blah, blah.

You don't need to put it in the bib in APA.

In this case putting the publication, date and page number would be rather pointless, they have multiple publishers over centuries. All bibles are effectively the same and the author is god, so just refer to the location in the bible. For creation, Genesis 1:1 - 2:25 and for the flood: Genesis 6:9 - 8:22

You would need to give the book of the bible, chapter and verse e.g. genesis 2:3 in the text. At the end you would cite the version and possibly publisher. Consult your friendly university or college library for the correct citation formula - but you may need the professional staff not the assistants.

To quote from the Bible you need to use a colon and quotation marks, NOT speech marks as you are quoting writing not speech, even if something is spoken as none of the Bible has speech marks in it so everything should be taken in quotation marks which are inverted commas ('). You should quote the Bible like this:

I will now quote from the Bible: 'Give, and it shall be given to you. For whatever measure you deal out to others, it will be dealt to you in return.'
