I was in your shoes and chose to go to an art specialty college. The best are Art Center in Pasadena,..Portfolio Center in Atlanta…. RISD in Rhode Island is another good one. The Art Institute in Chicago is great too.

Find one in your area and try to get in by sending in your portfolio of best illustrations.

I got a job as an illustrator for Old Navy and then Urban Outfitters. It’s really about meeting the right people and developing a network of work contacts. I went to the Art Institute in Chicago and luckily, one of my teachers liked my work and my work ethic. She referred me to someone at Old Navy and I did an internship there. I actually never finished school. It isn’t really necessary to finish especially if you can get a job. Most employers care about the portfolio and work experience first and then your schooling.

I work for Urban Outfitters now as an Illustrator and design a lot of the signage and art that goes into their catalogues. It is fun work and I get FREE clothes.

After this job at Urban Outfitters, I plan to freelance and start my own company. I plan on being the only employee and contracting out my work to different companies. There’s a lot of more money in that.

Oops, I just read your update. Yes, you go into the gaming industry. My best friend works for EA Sports and helps design their print materials and signage for special events. He gets free games and can try out games before they even come out.

A lot of men and women with liberal arts levels cross to paintings for the government. In San Antonio, appear on the wellbeing and human offerings internet site. You can effectively get an access stage function with baby protecting offerings or on the meals stamp workplace. Unfortunately, each have low pay, low morale, and top turnover. The heritage is well for studying important considering abilities and writing abilities, which, can also be carried out in a form of places. You too can appear on the non-gains. A lot of the name of the game to touchdown a role is to exhibit to your resume that you've abilities that practice to that detailed process. You must be somewhat of an artistic philosopher to try this. Also ensure to maintain your laptop abilities present. Realistically talking, it's elaborate to get a role with a measure however no enjoy. So you wish to do well internships if to be had, do a little volunteer paintings (which can also be indexed to your resume), and so on. If you'll be able to minor in some thing like Business Mgt., that might support Moving round plenty, it is going to be elaborate to paintings your manner up to your career, however it may be performed.

Where are you located? I can't recommend any place local to you if I don't know where you are. ;)

There are jobs available in art, and specifically in illustration. A friend of mine works as an illustrator for Sky and Telescope Magazine. Another works as an illustrator for medical textbooks and medical presentations. Still another works as an illustrator for children's books. But with some exceptions, most illustration work is done freelance.

"Stable" and "career in art" should not be put together in a phrase.
