I would like to become an architect in the future and study architecture at university. I have applied to college to take courses in the A level subjects Maths, Physics, Graphic Design and IT. However the college is now offering a new course in Product Design which i have heard is better in order to study architecture although im seriously unsure.
I was wondering if somebody with relivent knowledge of both subjects could tell me the difference between the two courses and which one if the two is more suited to architecture. Thank you :)

I don't think it really matters. As long as you have Mathematics and Physics you're fine. Studying any form of art subject is good though and often offered by prospective architectural students, so graphic design might be better. I see Product Design as a more tech like subject, whereas the A Level in Graphic Design (depending on the exam board) is more of an art subject - such is the case with Photography. But I think you'd be fine on either really. You might want to consider Fine Art as well.

I hope this helps and good luck for the future!

I have done both A level Product and Graphic design. They are completely different subjects! With most relevance to architecture is Graphic design. It consists of a lot of orthographic drawings which architects use to communicate with clients/manufacturers etc.. It also consists of a lot of computer aided drawing and designs using products such as AutoCAD, which architects use to draw up the plans of a building. As for product design, it's much different. It's great course to take for fun or if you want to become a product designer/design engineer. It mainly consists of designing products such as everyday household appliances and nothing near architectural constructions. Therefore, it's probably best gaining Graphic design rather than Product design. - That's just my opinion, it's your choice :)
