Any good IT schools or centers where they offer Comptia, CCNA, etc certifications in Chicago?

Currently I'm attending DePaul University, but now I'm thinking about just finishing this semester and just go straight into an it career. Don't get me wrong, I'm getting good grades and passing all my classes. However, I think I would be better off learning these tech skills instead of being in class lecture. Does anyone know of any good schools that offer these certifications in chicago or the surrounding suburbs (Cicero, Berwyn,etc..) And please don't tell me that i should stay in school than pursue a certification. I know a bunch of people who have degrees that are working at McDonald's and other places?

Yeah but the college grads working at MickeyD's don't have IT degrees, they have degrees in English Literature.

Many of the community colleges in the Chicago area have very good CCNA and CompTIA prep classes; both College of DuPage and Moraine Valley Community College have very good programs in these areas, and at a much lower cost than you'd pay a commercial training firm.

If your only ambition is to be a computer or network tech for your entire career, the certifications will work just fine for you. But if you think you might want to move up someday you'll hit a roadblock without a degree.

I have a number of these certs - 25 in total. The main benefit of getting the A+ is that it is an easy way to learn how IT cert tests work. If you remain in the IT career realm you will probably be taking more tests throughout your career that are either required by your employer or to prove your proficiency in a particular area. So Yes the A+ and others certs have value but be realistic on what that value is. The sequence you take these in is up to you. There is no right or wrong on that. I agree with Clifton that a Computer Science Bachelors degree is more important than certs. I'm not sure if any of the jobs I have had in IT were gained by my many certs but my Bachelors degree has come through for me many times.
