I'm currently at university, but I hate my course so I'm reapplying now. I'd just like to know, in the education section should I put the university I'm at now, it just says schools and colleges, not universities? Also in the box that asks if I have any formal qualifications from this institution should I tick yes or no seeing as I'm just there for a year. My other question is whether or not I need to put ALL my qualifications from high school, for example I got an E at AS level art and would rather not add that! It's not as if I need art for my degree and I've put all my other qualifications, will that be fine?

Your best advice is to contact UCAS (www.ucas.ac.uk) to clarify. But it sounds as though you should put your current university down, because otherwise there will be an unexplained gap in your education dates which may make it look like you're hiding something; and as you are not going to achieve a formal qualification (the first year of a degree does not entitle you to any qualification). With respect to your secondary school qualifications, unless UCAS guidance insists that you do put everything down it's probably up to you but make sure that leaving out a subject doesn't undermine your list of qualifications. Remember that university admissions tutors have seen it all: they understand how it all works and as long as your relevant subjects are at a good enough grade to be considered they are not going to mark you down for not doing that well in an additional subject. (They can also detect likely omissions, as well, so answering the question up front may be the best way of avoiding it hanging over your application).

Ok... One thing at a time...

In the education section you only need to include your secondary and further education (school and college) since that's all it asks for. Although, when it comes to the personal statement section, I would mention that you have studied for some time at your current uni.

Next... Formal qualifications can be earned in a year - (e.g. you might have gained a diploma/certificate rather than a full degree). So if you have some then write them down - If not, then obviously there's nothing to write.

You do not need to put all your qualifications on the form if you don't want to but I would include your E in AS level art. Its not a bad result and you can always talk about what you have improved/learnt from your mistakes in your statement/interview.

Have you spoke to someone at your university?

It might be possible for you to change course without going through the whole UCAS palaver!

Lots of my friends changed courses after first or even second year at uni, without having to go through UCAS...they just spoke to the facutlty or department.

Or try the careers advisor...they will be able to advise you about changing course or applying through UCAS again if that's what you decide to do.
