What is the best way for me to prepare for this exam?

I am studying IBEB (international bachelor for Economics and business), and in exactly 7 days I have an exam on Macro Economics. Now, I have to learn 500 pages of text for this exam, but with my short attention span I know that if I try to simply memorize everything I will never succeed (as I drift off every 5 minutes, no matter what I do).

I already know that the exam will be multiple choice (which is good) but I also know that 70% will be pure theory questions. In other words, I have to learn every important bit of information in the book by heart if I want to pass.

Exams like this have always been hell for me, as I just can't get that much theory memorized, no matter what I do. The place where I study is quite enough, but I just can't concentrate for long enough to learn all that. That the book is a bit boring and filled with irrelevant information doesn't help, either. If I just had some sort of summary, I'd be fine. But I don't. :/

Any ideas are very much appreciated :)

when ever ive had exams ive always planned out a time table, so im like, this is when i study, this is how long i study and how much time i get for breaks, therefore i wont fry my brain :)

and also i read a page/paragraph (whichever suits you) and then recited it and then did the next one and tried o recite them both. but unlike you i didnt have to memorise 500 pages. so...

i think you could do what my friend did for here A levels, she took EVERYTHING from her modules over the year, and wrote it all out, highlighted important bits, drew important diagrams etc, and trust me this booklet was huge. and she went over it, asked me to ask her questions and wrote them out important bits over and over again.

bear in mind thats her learning style, but i hope this helps

gd luck on your exam (^_^)

My tip to you is to go through everything that will be covered on the exam and type up a summary of all the important stuff to be covered. Then read the version you typed up 5-6 times.. the human memory is slow and stupid and it usually takes 5-6 times before you will actually remember something so don't worry if you forget the first few times. And break your study into chunks, don't try to do it all at once. Divide it into sections that you think best fit, for example if you were doing a test on the 1900's you could split your studying from 1900's-30's, 30's-50's, so on and so forth.

what always helps me memorize inportant information is when i keep writing it out on a piece of paper because it will just come to you...and i also try and use hand gestures to memorize..like different actions? ahah hope this helps:)

I would try going to class and studying the materials provided by your teacher.
